Confirm BioSciences has launched SteroidConfirm, an at-home testing kit in response to parents who are concerned about teenagers emulating the professional athletes who use such illegal substances.

SteroidConfirm tests for 17 different types of performance-enhancing agents.

SteroidConfirm follows the rapid rise of at-home drug screening products over the past five years.

“There are more kids in club or school sports activities than there are using drugs, and peer pressure for winning is tremendous,” said Mason Duchatscheck, founder and CEO of St. Louis-based TestMyTeen.com .

“Parents are the socially acceptable excuse for kids, who can stay on the straight and narrow by telling their teammates that their mom and dad are testing them regularly for steroid use.”

Becky Mateja, community relations coordinator, Outpatient Rehabilitation of St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, is also an athletic coach. She thinks SteroidConfirm is a great idea.

“I care about my kids and the student-athletes I coach,” Mateja said.

“I think of it like taking a temperature. If there’s something wrong whether they’re part of the problem or not, I’m here to help.”

Mateja, a former academic all-state multisport stand out from Whiting and all-American nominee at Montana State, said she remembers being tested in college.

“It’s never good to compromise your life for a sport,” she said.

“Sports are supposed to be the enhancement.”

SteroidConfirm’s suggested retail price is $145.99 including lab fee, shipping, report, MRO review and MRO consulting. For more information visit www.steroidconfirm.com .
